She Bop Presents The Feminist Porn Show with Tristan Taormino

Tuesday, June 5th — Mississippi Studios — Doors 7 p.m., pre-show 7:30 p.m., show 8 p.m. — $25

Join us for a special evening showcasing feminist porn, a genre of adult films and a growing movement!

Tristan Taormino will share a brief history and definition of feminist porn, then screen a special compilation curated by her, which includes clips from the work of feminist porn pioneers and newcomers including Candida Royalle, Annie Sprinkle, Nina Hartley, Petra Joy, Erika Lust, Shine Louise Houston, Madison Young, Courtney Trouble, and more. The screening will be followed by a facilitated discussion, where we’ll explore some of the current issues surrounding feminist porn.

The pre-show will include a sexy performance from Felice Shays. Afterward, Tristan will stick around to sign books and videos, and the party can continue at the adjoining Bar Bar!

Tristan Taormino is a writer, sex educator, speaker, and feminist pornographer. She is the author of seven books and editor 25 anthologies including her latest, The Ultimate Guide to Kink: BDSM, Role Play and the Erotic Edge. She is co-editor of The Feminist Porn Book: The Politics of Producing Pleasure, the first collection that includes writings by scholars, academics, producers and performers about feminist porn, forthcoming in 2013 from The Feminist Press. She runs the adult film production company Smart Ass Productions and is an exclusive director for Vivid Entertainment. She has directed and produced twenty-four sex education and porn films including the groundbreaking series based on real female kink fantasies, Rough Sex, and the Expert Guide sex education series, which she created for Vivid-Ed. She was the first female director to win an AVN Award for Best Gonzo Movie for the debut film in her reality series Chemistry, and she received the Trailblazer Award at the Feminist Porn Awards in 2010.

Whether you’re a newcomer or veteran to the world beyond monogamy, come discover strategies to help you nurture and grow your open relationship(s).

Tristan Taormino is an award-winning author, columnist, editor, and sex educator. She is the author of seven books and runs her own adult film production company, Smart Ass Productions. She directs three porn series for Vivid Entertainment: a reality series called Chemistry; Vivid-Ed, a sex education series; and Rough Sex, a vignette series based around women’s real fantasies. She was a syndicated columnist for The Village Voice for nine and a half years and writes an advice column for Taboo Magazine. Tristan has been featured in over 200 publications and has appeared on CNN, HBO’s Real Sex, Loveline, MTV, Oxygen, The Discovery Channel, and on over four dozen radio shows. Portland burlesque sensation Madison Moone is back by popular demand with a sultry new class sure to awaken your inner diva!

Students will be guided through a sexy burlesque movement study including bumps, grinds and struts, followed by a tantalizing round of peeling techniques. We will explore classic tools of the trade such as nylon stockings and opera length gloves while learning graceful transitions to help you tease with ease! Class will conclude with a sassy group striptease, leaving you and your girlfriends feeling like glamazons!

Students should dress in comfortable clothes; shorts or a skirt are preferred. Please bring your favorite heels (slip ons are best), nylon stockings, and elbow length gloves for peeling. Miss Moone will have extras on hand. All levels of fitness welcome; no dance experience or nudity required. Please avoid alcohol consumption before attending and arrive by 7:15 p.m. Class will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m, with no late entrance after 7:45 p.m. No photographs are permitted.

How to Drive a Vulva

Learn how to navigate the twists and turns of female anatomy in a class designed especially for vulvas and the people who love them! In this playful, informative workshop lead by sapphic-savant, Allison Moon, you will learn all the basics, including: anatomy, communication, fingers and hands, cunnilingus, strap-ons and other toys, safer sex, plus a few super secret, pussy-ninja techniques! You’ll come away with new confidence to please a pussy no matter what your hands-on experience.  This class is open to all genders, experience levels, and identities.

Allison Moon is a writer and sex educator based in Northern California. Her writing has been published in Not For Tourists, Nerve, McSweeney’s, and Psychopedia. She was recently named a fellow for the Lambda Literary Foundation’s Emerging LGBT Writer’s Program. As a sex educator, Allison has presented at the Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco, Dark Odyssey, and Sexy Spirits in New York City.

What’s going on in your sexual and emotional life? How can you improve your relationship world? Come join Arianne Cohen, author of The Sex Diaries Project: What We’re Saying About What We’re Doing, for a full week of self-discovery and exploration in this participatory 2-class workshop.

In the first class, Arianne will discuss what she’s learned about love and relationships from over 3000 anonymous diarists, and she’ll lead diarying exercises to get you started on your own week-long diary. Over the next week, you’ll keep your own 7-day anonymous diary about your relationship, sexual and emotional life through a guided online diarying program, and discover how you’re really connecting and disconnecting with others. In the second class, you’ll discuss your realizations and discoveries about yourselves with the group. It’s better than therapy! Whether you’re single or coupled or poly, not to be missed!

This is a fundraising event, so all proceeds from this workshop will go to Bitch Media!

Arianne Cohen has collected thousands of sex diaries from around the globe, and is executive producing a television show based on the concept. Her work has appeared regularly in The New York Times, Marie Claire, Popular Science, Fast Company and many others. From 2007-2010, she was founding editor of a weekly online Diaries column at New York Magazine. She was “The Fix” columnist for The New York Times, and she is a contributing editor at Woman’s Day. Join She Bop’s very own AJ (aka Amory Jane) for an evening of education and fun. Ever wandered around a sex toy shop and wondered “what the heck is that?” Never fear, AJ will answer those burning (in a good way) questions and then some!

In this class you will learn how sex toys originated and have advanced throughout history. AJ will explain the different types of toys, what they are used for and what they are made from, including vibrators, dildos, kegel exercisers, anal toys, toys for BDSM and more. Of course, don’t forget one of the most important things of all… yes, that would be lube! AJ will go over the different types of lube, as well as the ingredients to be aware of when selecting the best product for you. She will also address how to clean and store your toys so that you can enjoy them for as long as possible.

Exploring Burlesque: Striptease Salon

Have you ever wanted to rock your boa? Peel your stocking? Shimmy your hips? Get your glamour puss on because this class is for you! Join Portland’s Queen of the Tease, Madison Moone, for Striptease Salon, a flirty evening of classic bump and grind perfect for beginners or just the curious.

Students will be guided through a sexy burlesque movement study including bumps, grinds and struts, followed by a tantalizing round of peeling techniques and prop dancing. We will also explore classic burlesque characters before constructing a series of short teases as a group. Together, we will discover a deeper sense of our personal erotic beings while developing a greater appreciation of our feminine power!

Students should dress in comfortable clothes such a yoga or dance wear. Please bring your favorite heels, your prettiest bra and a zip up or button down blouse for layering. Basic Rope Bondage for Sex

Do you have the desire to tie someone up and have your way with them? Come to this workshop and learn the basics of rope bondage for sex and pleasure. This hands-on class will give you techniques and positions to bring to the bedroom, kitchen, living room or dungeon! This workshop will also address issues around consent and safety. Wear comfortable clothes and come ready to get down to it. Bring a soft mat or blanket to practice on. If you have rope bring it, but some will also be available for participants.
