How to Support a Survivor: From Ally to Accomplice

Jimanekia EbornLearn to be a better ally and support sexual assault survivors! This class is for survivors and their friends, families, and partners. We will cover ally/accomplice definitions, learn correct ways and wrong ways to support a survivor, provide tools for navigating internal struggles when you are an ally, and discover different ways to give and find support in the community. You will receive insight into what survivors may be going through, and will get to do some interactive work to try out your skills, and more! *Please note this class is interactive and encourages participation to get the most from it!

Jimanekia is an assault survivor and sexuality educator devoted to supporting survivors, as well as supporting and building better allies within the community. With her help, by the end of this class, you’ll learn how to go from an ally to an accomplice. You will learn how to show up for the survivors in your life in a way you may not have known was possible.

Jimanekia Eborn has worked in mental health for the last 10 years, which is where she saw the need for sexual education and sexual trauma support. This has led to her passion for assisting and supporting those that are sexual assault survivors and those without access to comprehensive sex education. Her compassion and passion for these populations have pushed her to continue building safe spaces for clientele, sharing education, and supporting their mental spaces. This is a sliding scale class with the following options:

$25 — standard class fee — please pay if you have the funds
$10 — low-income fee — for those experiencing economic hardship
$20 donation ONLY — this does not reserve a spot in class but is a donation to help more low-income folks attend

If you cannot afford the $10 class price and would like to apply for a free scholarship spot, please email us with the class name & date in the subject line and some brief information about your circumstances. Scholarship recipients will be chosen randomly from those who emailed and will be contacted at least 2 weeks prior to class to confirm.
