    Each Tuesday this April, 10% of our sales at She Bop will go to Call to Safety (formerly Portland Women’s Crisis Line). Call to Safety is a hugely important organization that offers 24/7 support to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. They offer services such as a crisis line, safety planning, peer support, and referrals to community resources. Call to Safety is an invaluable asset to our community, and we are honored to be able to give back to them for the tireless work that they do. April is also Sexual Assault Awareness Month.     It’s 10% Tuesday time again! This month, we’re donating 10% of our sales on Tuesdays to North by Northeast Community Health Center, the only medical clinic in Oregon focused on African American health. North by Northeast is a non-profit organization providing welcoming, high-quality health care to uninsured and OHP-covered adults. They work to improve health outcomes and advance health equity by offering primary care services focused on chronic health conditions affecting the local African American population. North by Northeast Community Health Center was founded by a Pentecostal pastor and a Jewish doctor who met in 2005 as a result of the Gulf Coast hurricanes and joined in partnership to address…

    October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and we will be donating 10% of all in-store sales on Tuesdays this month to Bradley Angle, an organization whose mission is to offer survivors of domestic and sexual violence options for safety, empowerment, healing and hope, while collaborating with local communities to create social change. In 1975, Bradley Angle became the first domestic violence shelter on the West Coast (and only the 4th in the United States). Over the years, their services have expanded to include financial education, housing assistance, support groups, youth programs, and culturally responsive advocacy for LGBTQ, Black, and African American survivors of domestic violence.     Throughout the month of May, 10% of all purchases made at She Bop on Tuesdays will go to TransActive’s In A Bind program! TransActive is a Portland-based non-profit that provides a wide range of services to transgender and gender nonconforming children, youth, and their families. Their In A Bind program provides chest binders to trans-masculine youth in need. It is the first national chest binder donation/distribution program, with over 1,300 people on the waiting list for a binder.     Throughout the month of January, 10% of our proceeds made on Tuesdays will be donated to In Other Words, a non-profit, volunteer-run, feminist community center in NE Portland. Their mission is to support, enrich, and empower the feminist community through literature, art, and educational and cultural events. In Other Words’ bookstore includes books on feminism, queer and transgender studies, sexuality, and activism/politics, as well as alternative children’s books that are not easily found at other bookstores.
