Blog launch giveaway — win a LELO Gigi!

We’re ready to celebrate!

The She Bop Blog has been in existence for just a few short months. So far, we’ve published a couple posts answering the oft-asked questions “Can I become addicted to my vibrator?” and “What are phthalates?”, we’ve listed our top sexy picks for Valentine’s Day and holiday stocking stuffers, and we’ve shown you how to choose and wear a cock ring.

We’re looking forward to building our blog up even more as a resource on sex toys and sexuality. Now, to commemorate our blog’s first months — and its exciting future! — we’re giving away this beauty.

This is the LELO Gigi — a consistent bestseller in our shop, and all-around awesome luxury vibrator. Gigi is a moderately-sized, rechargeable vibrator with a uniquely-shaped tip that can be used clitorally or against the G-spot. Gigi has a variety of vibration speeds and patterns to suit every taste. It comes in turquoise, light pink, and deep rose, and the winner gets their choice of color!

  • Pretty! :)

  • Topics I would love to read about:

How men can properly use vibrators with their female partner.
How to breach the female orgasm topic the first time you have sex with a new partner.
Am I doing this right? Insecurity and the bedroom.
How to show interest in/arrange/have a threesome (MMF or MFF).

  • I would like to see you do a piece to help people be savvier consumers of sex toys (best materials, toys, values, etc.)

    • yes! a night afterhours or something when people can come in and visit the store and have an employee tell about the different products.

  • Also liked ya on Facebook!

  • I’d like to see a blog on how to talk with a spouse about anal sex. We have done it once but she isn’t to receptive to the idea. Also how would I ask her to use a strap on with me?

  • Woo! Blue Gigi! :)

I think it would be interesting to see a post about lube. Comparing the qualities between water-based and silicone based (longevity, compatibility with toys/condoms, that kind of thing), though that would vary by brand. Maybe do a post with explanations of some ingredients…. what should be avoided (like, I know sugar/glycerin can cause yeast issues – but what are some of the not-so-common names companies use for potentially bad ingredients)? Maybe talk about preservatives that can also cause issues. Or how about flavored lubes? I’m never quite sure how they add sweet flavor (sucralose? aspartame?) without it potentially causing issues.

  • I’d like to see information on cool studies about sexuality — have you seen the survey going around the internet about perceptions of female genitalia? Sharing links like that would be great!

  • …and I like you on FB.

  • I’d like to hear about options and resources for responsibly disposing of/recycling old, busted and unwanted sex toys!

  • I would love you to address sexual disabilities in a blog post(aka, vaginismus, vulvodynia, etc.)
Important topic that often gets misrepresented(like the Tyra show about it) or just ignored all together!

  • I would like to see you guys talk about how “deviant” sexual behavior might not be so deviant.

  • I also followed you on twitter

  • And I liked you facebook page :)

  • And shared the contest on twitter.

  • I’m already a fan on FB, does that count?

I’d like to see more information about the g-spot and learning to ejaculate!

    • Yep, that counts!

  • Signed up for e-mail updates!

  • How partners can use vibes together

  • Body acceptance and it’s relationship to your sex life (letting go of inhibitions)
Big, big love (fun sex for plus sized people)
Easy ways to spice up a vanilla relationship (how to say “i want more / something new)

  • The issue I’m struggling with is a twist on another’s post. How to introduce the topic of safe anal sex, i.e. dental dams, condoms on shared toys, etc.

  • Info about condoms – materials, spermicides, lubes – and why the local pharmacies are dominated by only two or three brands?
Why is there a stigma about male masturbation aids, but no such stigma about female masturbation aids? Also, is it aid or aide? Aid is a form of help. Aide is an assistant. A vibrator is, arguably, both. Discuss.
Do shark tattoos make people better lovers?

  • Yay! Awesome blog and thanks for the info :)

How about: Are there other erogenous zones a vibrator can be used on, other than the genitalia or anus, that can be arousing?

  • I would also be interested in how partners can use vibes together (including gender pairing variations) and yes, please to more info about what people should know about lubes (including how to tell if they’re vegan, this is Portland.)

I follow on Twitter (@stonetree) and like you on Facebook. Thanks!

  • i would like a training wheels class of porn for women. i am very shy of it, for reasons not to be delved into here. but i would like to overcome this, but just randomly searching on my own is just too much for my faint of heartedness. i would trust YOU to show me the ropes.

    thanks!

  • and i too am already a FB fan!

  • [...] after vibrators: a LELO Gigi. If you want to get in on the action, head on over to SheBop’s giveaway blog post to find out all the various ways you can [...]

  • I would love to see a comprehensive, comparative post on lubes. Well, maybe not COMPLETELY comprehensive but maybe broken down by use and compared to similar brands for the same use.

I already follow SheBop on Twitter, just tweeted about it (I’m tomboy_femme), just subscribed to the RSS feed annnnd I just wrote a blog post about it here: http://divergentdance.wordpress.com/2011/02/26/shebop-wants-to-give-you-a-gigi/ .

  • Perhaps cover the etiquette of buying toys for relatives, bachelorettes, etc?

  • I’m excited to see what topics you decide to tackle in the coming months. Personally I’d be interested in a look at how the sex toy market has changed in the last two decades, maybe an interview with Portland’s own sex positive guru The Dark Lady aka Teresa Reed.

Hoping to win. Follwed you on twitter, tweeted commented her and will follow on rss

  • Ditto the earlier post about body acceptance/getting rid of inhibitions! Also, learning to enjoy penetration (for people who find it painful/uncomfortable)

*also liked you on facebook and signed up for email updates. Thanks! : )

  • A topic on lube. Seriously, there are so many and there are benefits/draw backs to each of them. Experimenting gets expensive (love sample sizes, but not all lubes have them!) plus hearing experiential wisdom is so helpful.

  • I ‘like’ you on fb, already and shared you with friends. Maybe one of those will count toward an extra entry?

  • How about an inside look at a sex club for those of us who are too nervous to check one out ourselves?

I followed you on twitter, liked you on facebook, and shared the contest on twitter.

    • I like the sex club idea.

I would like there to be a discussion on why they only seem to advertise to men and “hot chicks” and why they do not open there clubs up to people of all body types. I’m not saying that they actively prohibit women who do not look like barely legal porn stars to attend, just that their advertising suggests that the rest of us are unwelcome.

  • More safer sex ed, please! Products, communication skills, etc. Thanks so much – Love Y’all so much!

  • How about a sex toys for vegans blogs. Also, can you talk about the production of the products you carry – such as are they slave labour free? There is something a creepy about using a vibrator made by children.

  • I am interested to see how this feels. I have never been a huge vibrator fan. Maybe I have never tried the perfect one. Being a lesbian, I like trying lots of new toys, many of which I have bought from SheBop :)

My all time favorite is the NJoy Pure Wand! You should do a blog about the wonders of steel toys. They are truly amazing in so many ways!!!!!

  • I would love to see more sex positive posts relating to sex in pregnancy! We talk about the safety and normalcy of sex in pregnancy with our clients, but many women do not receive this information during their prenatal care. I’d love to see sexy brought back into pregnancy for couples. Often women are reduced to a someTHING that is innocent (read: sexually null); it blocks out a woman’s sexuality that STILL exists during her pregnancy. Furthermore, pregnancy often increases the libido in many women (usually after the first trimester when she is feeling better and has more energy).

  • All these ideas are really great. Things that I would enjoy: Lube comparison for sure, and perhaps book reviews, tips for using a strap-on for the first time.

  • and I signed up for the E-mail list.

  • Where is really the best place to keep my toys?
top ten reasons to have a good stash spot. ie reason number one the dog,

  • I’d like to see further articles on safety of sex toy ingredients. I’d also like to see articles discussing ingredients of products like lube and massage oil. How safe are they? What do you not want to stick in your body? That sort of thing.

  • I follow on Twitter @beanfiddlers

  • I like you on Facebook as Bean Fiddler

  • I subscribe to the RSS feed with Google Reader

  • I posted this giveaway on Facebook as Bean Fiddler

  • Topics I would like to see:
    Pegging
Toy safety (materials they’re made out of, mainly)

  • I like you on Facebook (Jay Dee)

  • Almost forgot – I already follow you on Twitter as @Kaijah_

  • I’m following you on Twitter @giveawaysetc

  • We would like you to tackle the topic of pegging.

  • I’d like to see an article about silicone lubes and silicone toys. I have heard a lot of conflicting advice about this…and though in my own reviews I say NOT to do it, I have heard that high quality silicone lubricants (ie Eros etc.) with high quality toys is OKAY. So I am endlessly curious about this.

  • I follow SheBop on Twitter as @deltaOvenus.

  • How to bring up using sex toys with a partner, and cleaning/storage tips.

  • I would love to read about the causes of a female or male partner losing their interest in being intimate with their partner. Though still young, in my 20′s I find it very hard to get in the mood. Though I still love it, It is alot harder than it used to be. Feel as though there have been changes in my body. Would love to know of ways to easily get in the mood, and any possible reasons for the changes in my sex drive.

  • I would like to see something about body acceptance and learning to “let go” of one’s physical insecurities in the bedroom.

  • Follow on Twitter as @Alacransita84

  • “Like” on Facebook as Cristina Wyatt

  • Subscribe via e-mail

  • I’d love to hear more about phalates. I know I don’t want them. But why? What do they do?

I’d love to hear more about GREAT toys in every price range. Even an inexpensive toy CAN be good. And an expensive one can be bad. Honest open reviews (such as I’ve seen so far, but MORE!) would be appriciated.

Ways to talk to your spouse/partner/ sex buddy about using toys with or on you or allowing you to use toys on them

More toys for dudes! I’d love to get some stuff for my guy but he’s not into anal play. This makes the field shallow and narrow. Guys like sex too!

I already follow you on twitter, that’s how I got here. From a link. (same i.d. as that email address above)

  • There needs to be more information available on the actual numbers of illnesses from anal oral contact(I’d guess about the same number of people that get sick from eating raw cookie dough.). Equally a collection of advice from ‘experts’ in the field that isn’t dumbed down PR, on anal sex techniques. There is a lack of details in most technique articles.

  • @Monkey4Sale is now following you on Twitter. Lucky you.

  • I follow you on twitter as @cbsassy

  • I tweeted today about the give away.

  • Since you’re giving away a great g-spot toy, I think you should talk about how to use it and find your g-spot.

  • I follow you on Twitter as @lucidobsession

  • I liked your Facebook page as Lucid Obsession

  • I subscribe with RSS through Google Reader as lucidobsession@gmail.com

  • I posted bout the contest on my Tumblr – http://lucidobsession.tumblr.com/post/3585724492/lelo-gigi-giveaway

  • A feature on glass toys would be good…..im a huge fan but i know alot of people are a bit wary of the whole glass thing…..and there are so many gorgeous glass dildos, plugs and vibrators on the market……would make a great highlight feature!!!

  • I would also be interested in information about different lubes and their uses. I have extremely sensitive “flora” and have a very hard time using even the most gentle lube.

As an “older” woman, I’m 46, I’m finding that things are changing lubrication-wise, so it would be nice to see some things dealing with pre/post menopausal issues.

  • I think a Q & A side column could be fun!

    • I second that motion!

  • I’d like to see more about sex toys that aren’t a billion dollars, perhaps some information on different types of lubes. Maybe just some sex toy basics?

  • Love to learn more about vaginal (not clitoral) orgasms and if whether they’re a myth (!!!)

  • I would love for you to talk more about how to use toys, the best ways to create sexual excitement in relationships, and talk more about lubricants and which are the best to use without harming my body.

  • I am loving this blog so far! I would like to read about feeling comfortable with your body at any size and perhaps exercises/stretches that will strengthen your ability to perform in the bedroom.
    Thanks!

  • I would like a discussion on how safe sex is practiced at play parties where you may be w/ multiple partners…also another class on anal play would be great.

  • Also liked you on fb!

  • I’d enjoy a piece on sexuality myths.

  • How men can properly use vibrators with their female partner during intercourse and vice versa?
Best way to give oral sex using vibrator to male or female partner?

  • Would love to see a workshop on various cultural beliefs, attitudes and practices about sex. We all have something to learn from “others”!

  • off to read that phthalate post- glad I’m not the only one opening my eyes to how much dang plastic there is in sex toys.

I’ve worked hard at eliminating plastics from my kitchen- keeping it away from my vulva should be the next step! (duh)

  • Would love to see something on how to introduce a curious partner to anal play, when one isn’t all that experienced with it themselves.

Also: more on clever (MacGyver-y?) bondage, especially in inconvenient spaces (I know so few people with proper bedframes — how do you tie someone down in that context?).

Definite yes on how to effectively talk to new partners about safer sex responsibility.

And, have liked you on FB & signed up for email updates!

    • The Under the Bed Restraint System works wonders for those without a bedframe — you secure it under the mattress, and it’s actually very effective.

      • Oh, snap! I actually got that for someone’s birthday once, around 5 years ago. It went over well. Thanks for the reminder!

  • I wanna learn about butt plugs and other buttly pleasure toys. For males and females.

  • I’d like more information for women on how to masturbate and also, how to avoid desensitization with a vibrator.

  • I would love to see a post about some of the lesser known spots, like the A-spot!

  • I LOVE THIS VIBRATOR! I don’t really need another but I had to share my enthusiasm.

I’d like to hear some info about butt plugs. And strap ons!

  • I subscribed to your email list (1) and liked you on facebook (2). Because you’re awesome.

  • i’d like to see a workshop on how to break out of the “one path to glory” rut, ie figuring out new ways to achieve orgasm.
I already get email updates, and now I’m going to add you on facebook!

  • i would like to hear more about how to introduce anal play when neither party is that well versed–and kind of timid…

  • She Bop Blog, you’ve done cock rings, now what about butt-plugs? ;)
Thanks for having a fantastic shop and doing a giveaway! <3

  • I would love to read a post about porn and it’s effects on a relationship over the long-term, especially as a couple ages while the porn stars stay young.

  • I liked the “sex during pregnancy” idea. And post baby too!

  • This post has me accidentally brainstorming.

Responsible data security, and related boundary issues, with DIY porn-y/nude tapes/pictures.

  • The giveaway that keeps giving :)

  • I’d like to know what some specific stretching/yoga could be used to limber up the body for men and women who like to experience more rigorous sexual positions such as the ‘Amazon’. I’d also like to know if there’s a water based lube that doesn’t get tacky/sticky during sex and/or suggestions on how to use it without getting annoyed.

    • Re: Lube: My general experience is that that obnoxious Gross Lube Stickiness is thanks to glycerin. Look for glycerin-free lubes (Sliquids, along with a handful of others, have been kind to me). If you’re shopping somewhere and they’ve got a tester in the store, put a drop between your thumb and forefinger and rub for a while — this makes it pretty clear pretty quickly what’ll happen when the water starts to evaporate (or get absorbed?).

Getting people off of Astroglide and its ilk has been something of a hobby for a few years now.

      • love myself some sliquid.
        highly recommended.

      • Thanks! I’ll try it. Lube can be such a quandary and so specific to the toys, etc.

  • I’m in agreement with the crowd about the lube posting- it would be great to know more about lubes best for specific issues- women with atrophic vaginitis, chemical sensitivities, issues with flora balance like chronic yeast infections and BV ( yes I am in the health care field, why do you ask?)

I’d also love to see a post about toy materials and phthalates, Bisphenol- A, and other chemical cautions.

    Sex/kinky sex/BDSM during pregnancy

Book reviews are great, as are film reviews- i.e.-top 5 bondage books, or books/films made by NW locals, what’s new in queer video porn, etc.

  • I’d like to learn more about racial and gender stereotypes playing out in interracial sexual relationships.

  • I agree that a post on lube would be really helpful- my bf works at Fantasy video and he brings home stuff that is supposedly “healthy” and then I find out late that is B A D for my kitty! She Bop is the only source in PDX I can trust!

  • I would love to see a post about vibrators for newbies. What are the best ones for people who are just starting to experiment with vibrators?

  • I just “liked” she bop on facebook!

  • i’d like to see a post on sex and spirituality – exercises to increase awareness, comparisons of different traditions/philosophies, resources for local workshops (surely there are some around…)

also, you got some facebook love… well, a ‘like,’ to be more accurate…
but if they HAD a ‘love’ button, you’d have gotten some of that for sure

AND… i’m following the blog via email

you guys rock my world, thanks for everything!!

  • I “liked” She Bop on Facebook a long time ago! (That’s a few months in FB-land)

  • I also just subscribed to e-mail updates!!!

  • I just posted this blog post to all my local lady friends on FB. :)

  • I’d love to know more good online sources for erotica!

  • I’d love it if She Bop would do a workshop on playing consensually with power dynamics to make sex even hotter. Not BDSM techniques per se, how about physical, energic and psychological power dynamic/options. I’m particularly interested in this topic as it relates to sex between women. Sexy!

  • my first thought was “THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF LUBES”, and after perusing the comments it seems that I’m not alone in wanting the lowdown on all the different types of slippery substances out there (I love your selection, by the way).

I think a brief history of the sex toy would be another interesting topic.

Or a survey of aphrodisiacs and whether or not any of them are actually effective.

I’d be interested to know more about the brain states during orgasm and the effects on wellbeing.

A general piece on the pervasive myths out there would be helpful. ie semen contains trace amounts of spinal fluid, the G spot doesn’t exist, etc…

  • I would love to know more about sex/swingers clubs. They are so shrouded in mystery but I know they exist here in Portland. Whats the scoop?

  • i would like to see a blog about lube comparisions, the do’s & don’ts of lube & toys, porn suggestions for women, & of course-more giveaways, as well as maybe coupons too! :)

  • I’d like to see reviews of different lubes, toy cleaning/storage, and information on polyamory/poly resources.
I already like you on facebook, but I also signed up for email updates, and follow you on twitter.

  • I’d like more information about lube — why some lubes seem to work better (in terms of staying slippery), and what the health implications are for some of the types of lubes which you don’t carry.

  • I would like to see an post about Pegging, including how to bring the topic up to your partner, how to find/stimulate the prostate and how to warm each other up.

  • Also, I just “liked” you on facebook :)

  • And I just shared a link to this contest with all of my Facebook friends.

  • Already receive email, and now have your blog in my google reader. Yay! Will tweet it out to the my giant list of followers (20-some…).

Regarding lubes: I’m allergic to aloe vera. Thank the Goddess that you have a lube in stock that doesn’t contain aloe! And, thanks so much to your sales goddess who read through all the ingredients to find it for me. More info on lubes for sure.

Another topic: the proper fitting of a strap to enhance the strap wearer’s orgasm. BTW, I love the strap that I bought from you! So much more comfortable than my gf’s leather one.

And: quality dyke porn and where to find it.

And: exploring dirty talk during sex. My girl would love that but I just don’t have the vocabulary for it!

    Love your shop. Love it!

  • Would love to read about the history of the vibrator….or sex toys in general. Also, advice for those new to the shopping scene, maybe from some more ‘experienced’ users. And because I like to laugh at other people’s pain, a piece on When Toys Attack would be awesome.

    You girls are the bestest!

I also liked you on facebook. :)

  • It is always interesting to hear the benefits we are receiving/can receive from our sexual activity and exploration. (now following on twitter)

  • Lube reviews – great idea.
    Sex after childbirth
    Vaginal stimulation techniques
How to better communicate with your lover during sex – e.g. one partner’s a “talker”, one isn’t. How do you bridge that gap?

    Thanks!

  • Following on twitter: @tobzahs

  • Email update subscribed

  • Topics I would love to see discused on the she bop blog:
    Vaginal health
vaginal exercise and the lovely products you have to aid in that :)
healthy lube choices, covering issues like glycerin, PH, allergies, consistency ext.
    gender play with toys
    sex positive community resources

thanks for being such a great part of the neighborhood!

  • I’d love to see a topic about couples using toys together – and suggestions for the best toys to use.

Also a topic on baby steps to introducing less vanilla activities into the bedroom.

How about a guest article by Vicki Vantoch?

  • Also followed you on twitter!

  • Liked you on facebook!

  • I’m already on your email list – that’s how I heard about the giveaway!

    • You’re subscribed to our newsletter, but this is email updates for posts that go up on this blog. :)

  • I would love to see more showcases of mindful and sensual strap-on (female-male) play both in porn and discussion minus the cheesiness and the BDSM aspects. Not that BDSM can’t be awesome, but almost all porn or discussion of the pegging nature tends to be narrowly focused on that realm or uber-cheesy a lá “Bendover Boyfriend”.

  • Definitely would like to see a topic about sex toys and lube — delve into the materials and chemistry of each. What works with what. What’s safe and why not. The best early toys vs the more advanced ones.

    Already signed up for emails!

  • Tweet #2 as Cbsassy

  • I would love to see more information about techniques for women using strapons, both on hips and knees, to peg men. Thanks y’all!

  • I do follow you on Twitter and I would love more info on the G-spot… If I have one I either haven’t found it or I lost it.

  • Not only is She Bop Liked on Facebook, it is LOVED!!!
    <3 <3 <3

  • I would like to read about astrological signs and sex etc…… I have been reading Sextrology and would like more info about it.

  • Thanks for the RSS feed! Great blog.

  • I would love to see a workshop about the female orgasm and female arousal that is targeted to men and all the wonderful ways they can help their lady partner get off!

  • I’m interested in topics like beginning couples bondage, feminine domination, and couples porn movies.

Plus, I subscribed to your blog.

Plus, I “liked” you on Facebook.

Plus, my girlfriend and I would love to play with Gigi.

  • Hi! I’d love read about ethically produced/allergen-free lubes!

    E

  • I’ve been reading a lot lately about the mainstreaming of genital mutilation – e.g. vaginoplasty, labiaplasty, hymen reattachment, and I would love to see a post about it here!

  • Followed on Twitter! @mattieomega

  • Liked on Facebook! (Mattie Omega)

  • Subscribed to RSS via my gmail account

  • Made a post on Facebook (Mattie Omega)

  • I’d like to see you do a rundown of how to be a better toy shopper/consumer – what to look for in toy materials, lube ingredients to watch out for, cleaning vs sterilization, that sort of thing.

I also follow you on twitter now @FS_Navigator

  • I would like to see advice on how to talk to a partner about using toys together (for example, how to communicate with a partner who worries they’ll be “replaced” by a toy or feels inadequate if toys are desired by the other partner). I would also like to see information about safe storage of toys. Can storing certain toys together damage them? Can toys be damaged by certain storage materials? If your storage place is made of a porous material, do you need to clean your toy before use even if you cleaned it before you put it away?

Also, as many people have suggested, a guide to lubes. Flavored lubes that are safe for sensitive skin and also taste good? Ingredients to watch out for? Why is the smell so hard to wash off after using Hathor Lube Lickeurs? (and is there a good alternative?)

  • Something I’d love to hear some expert advice on: gettin’ it on in the bath/shower. There’s lots of ways to approach the subject, from lubes that work best in watery situations, to good waterproof and water resistant toys, to concerns regarding how bubble bath/jacuzzi chemicals react with body fluids, etc.

Thank you for listening to what your readers are interested in hearing about! I’m so excited you have a blog!

  • Am now following you on Twitter! (already “liked” y’all on Facebook, yay)

  • Meant to subscribe to your blog when I first saw it posted on FB; thanks for the reminder to do so!

I’m also “sharing” the post about this contest via Google Reader. :)

  • I’d like to see more stories on anal sex and the health benefits it has for both sexes.

  • Topix of interest…
I would like to see she bop talk about polyamorous relationship, and maybe have Dossie Easton, Catherine Liszt do a talk about their book.

  • i linked to your site on my blog, and i signed up for your updates! :)

  • Tweet #3 as @cbsassy

  • daily suggestions of ways to spice up the sex life.
Sex during pregnancy, and how to keep it fun!
Keeping the heat, when all you want to do is sleep!

  • I already like you on fbook :D I would like to learn more about sex over the age of 50. I have had an older lover who could get it up without Viagra, and was constantly aroused by me, but I just want to know more. I am also graduating with a degree in long-term care, so I could really use the resources. I am open to older adults and their sexuality/sensuality and discussions like these are beneficial.

  • I would love to see a post about post partum sex. Drive, hormones, let down of milk during orgasm, possible increase or decrease of pleasure due to change in genitals, etc

  • “like”ed on FB. A few months ago.

  • Tweeted

  • Put the blog in my google reader

  • I would like to see an article on how/why orgasmic release can also cause crying.

  • I’d like more information on pegging. Would like to know more about female ejaculation as well. Thanks, she bop!!!

  • I’d love to hear about tips on avoiding overstimulation/soreness during sex without toning down all the things that are maintaining arousal! Also I’m interested in what it takes to work in a sex shop.

  • First, I think this is so cool! I’ve heard about Gigi and would love to own one! I’m interested in seeing a blog on educating someone on picking out their first vibrator, or sex toy. It’s pretty scary walking into these stores and not knowing what to get, or how to even ask! Thanks :)
